Paris Day 4

I liked walking around the passages. They were the magical little shops that you imagine when you think of Paris. I wished I had a whole day to get lost there amongst the weird dollhouse furniture and music boxes. But alas, my body betrayed me as it usually does when I walk for too long. I’ve got asthma so my lung capacity is absolute garbage. That’s why after walking around Paris for hours I had to go up to my room to die a little. I didn’t get to meet the guest speaker for the day, but Kimmy came up and told me about him.

Apparently he was one of the ever growing angry funny men who are worried there’s no room for comedy in a Politically Correct World. This has been a common argument recently and everytime it gets brought up I get a little more frustrated. First, there are several politically correct comedies that are hilarious, Brooklyn 99 and the Good Place to name a few. But more than that, you don’t have to be completely politically correct to be a successful comedian in today’s world, you just have to be funnier than an average twelve year old boy. We are tired of the same jokes regurgitated from the same stereotypes that were never funny to the minorities they made fun of. John Mulaney isn’t 100% PC, and yet my generation adores him because he’s clever. Bill Hader isn’t 100% PC, but he’s willing to adjust his comedy to the times, and he’s very popular amongst my generation. My generation is demanding for comedians to aim higher than “women are crazy” and “what’s up with feminine gay men?” They can either adapt or get left behind.
