London Day 4

Angel’s Costumes was super cool. I’m a cosplayer and I make most of my own costumes, which of course isn’t even comparable to the lengths the folks at Angel’s go to, but it gives me perspective as to how much goes into one of those outfits. I made a complex cosplay from a premade suit as a base and I had to sew for two weeks straight, these people make an outfit far better than that from scratch in five days tops. It’s absolutely insane the details put into the costumes, and I loved learning about the different ways productions would save money like the double sided clothing for the servants in two separate manors from the same film. The 2000s section of the casual costume section fascinated me, because it’s so hard to pick out fashion from a decade you lived through, though they’ve already begun with the slow slung jeans and the bedazzled tee shirts. They even had a pair of earrings that looked exactly like the pair I got from Claire’s when I was nine.

Meeting Sandy Lieberson was eye opening because he’s had decades of experience as a producer and an agent in the British film industry, so he really had a feel for the inner workings of all aspects of an American working somewhere like London. Talking to him was the first time on this trip that I felt like I could possibly work in Europe. I never seriously considered that life may take me overseas, since I figured I’d be working in Hollywood the rest of my life. It’s also cool to know I could theoretically only spend a few years in London before moving back to Los Angeles after the show ended. I have even more opportunities than I thought possible.
