Today we tried to go to the Louvre only to find it had been shut down by protesters. I was thrilled by this, as I have been thrilled by all the protests I have seen around Paris. I love that they still care so fiercely and they aren’t letting their government get an inch on them and take away their freedoms. To me, it was justified, since they had a record long transportation strike and no changes were made. I looked it up and apparently Macron is still going ahead with his pension plan despite the outrage of the citizens, and as the protests drag on the number of protesters are declining. I hope things will turn around and it will be another win for the people. Besides, the Musee D’Orsay was wonderful.
Running around Montmartre was so much fun, despite the stairs and my weak baby lungs. Moulin Rouge and Amelie are two of my favorite movies, so it was cool to get to know the spirit of the place that they captured. I loved what Isabelle said, something along the lines of “to live here you had to be tough and unshowered.”
